Dental Practice Loans for a Cabell County, WV Associate Becoming an Owner
An associate who buys into a practice, or buys it outright from a retiring dentist, usually funds the purchase with a term loan. The price rests on a valuation of the practice's earnings, patient base, equipment and receivables, and the loan is repaid from the buyer's share of income.
Partners familiar with dental practices read collections, production, hygiene revenue and overhead. They also look at the transition plan: how long the seller stays, whether patients are introduced, and what the purchase agreement says about non-competition and the staff.
Dental Equipment Loans for Chairs and Panoramic Imaging
A chair with its delivery system, light and stool is a standard equipment purchase; panoramic and cone-beam imaging units cost more and last for years. Equipment financing secured by the unit spreads the cost across its life, and dental dealers often offer their own programs.
Compare a dealer program with a loan on total cost and on what is bundled, such as installation, training and service. The equipment page covers medical and dental equipment together.
Business Loans for a Dentist Opening a Second Tri-State Office
A second office, whether across Cabell County, WV or in a neighboring state, combines a lease or purchase, a build-out, equipment and staff costs before the new site bills. A partner reads the first office's record and the plan for the second.
A dentist expanding into Ohio or Kentucky needs that state's professional license as well as the business registrations, and a partner may ask to see them.
Dentist Business Loans for an Office Remodel and Sterilization Room
A remodel can add operatories, rebuild a sterilization room, change the reception area or bring the office up to current codes. Plumbing, compressed air, suction and electrical work are a large part of the cost, and the work needs building permits.
In Huntington, WV the building permit fee is set by the cost of labor and materials, with a $20 application fee, according to the city's building permit page (read October 2026). The zoning and permit guide lists the steps.
Dentist Offices With Employees in Cabell County, WV, by Size
County Business Patterns counted 27 offices of dentists in Cabell County, WV in 2023, with about 245 paid employees and an annual payroll of about $14.8 million. Six of the 27 had fewer than five employees, so 21 had five or more (our arithmetic). ZIP 25701, which reaches into Wayne County, had ten offices of dentists (ZIP Code Business Patterns).
The 27 offices are employer establishments, meaning locations with at least one paid employee; a group with two sites is counted twice, and a dentist practicing alone without staff is not in this count.
Size matters to a request because overhead scales with staff. An office with a dentist, two hygienists and front-desk staff carries a payroll that runs every pay period, whatever the insurers' timing, and a partner reads that payroll against collections when it sizes a loan or a line.
An Invented Two-Operatory Expansion, Priced as a Loan
Illustration only, invented figures: a practice adds two operatories, including chairs, delivery units, cabinetry and plumbing, for $142,000. Seven years of payments at an invented annual rate of 8.9% would run about $2,277 each month and about $191,306 in all (our arithmetic).
The question for a partner is whether the added chairs bring enough production to cover that payment with room to spare. A practice can test that before calling: estimate how many extra patient visits each new chair adds per month, multiply by the average collection per visit, and set the result against the payment plus the added hygienist or assistant hours.
If the build-out takes the operatories out of use for some weeks, plan for that too. Some partners allow a short period of interest-only payments during construction; ask whether an offer includes one. These numbers are not an offer.
